Planning Guide:

ARRIVAL: The address of the chalet is 826 Lakeview Blvd, Mammoth Lakes. Building F, unit 652, upstairs.  It is part of the 1849 complex.  When driving up Lakeview Blvd, turn right into the driveway just BEFORE the main 1849 building.  You will see a sign that says Phase II buildings at the entrance to the driveway.  You may park up to 3 vehicles onsite.  You will find 3 parking passes hanging in the kitchen.  Please be sure to return the passes before you leave.  To unlock the door, enter the code and press the enter button (says Yale).  To lock it just hit the enter button (no code needed). The Arlo security doorbell records at least 9 pm to 9 am, so you can feel comfortable storing large items such as skis outside the Chalet door.  Electric vehicle charging stations are located adjacent to the pool.  To the left of the pool facing the road is limited overflow parking (see site map). There are no designated parking spots, so just grab any spot closest to the chalet's front door. In the winter parking is at a premium and on a first come first served basis. If you have more than 3 cars you will need to find overflow parking elsewhere. Street parking is illegal from November through April (actual dates may vary depending on snowfall).

Please note we do not rent through the association, so the front desk is unable to help you with any questions or concerns. Please contact me or the caretaker with any questions.

When packing, remember your bathing suit and a pool towel for the recreation center.  We provide 14 sets of towels for your stay.  We also provide the first morning’s coffee, a roll of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, some spices, sugar, tea, and firewood.  There is a built-in coffee center as well as a Keurig.  A spare coffee pot and electric milk frother are located over the refrigerator. There is also a crock pot, instapot, Blendtec blender, toaster, toaster oven, griddle, waffle maker, and mixer.  Let me know if you have any questions about supplies.

Check-in is 4 PM and check-out is 10 am unless you have made previous arrangements, which is possible only if there is nobody checking in or out the same day and housekeeping can accommodate it.  Please remember to double and triple-check for your personal belongings.  We can mail back anything you leave behind with a minimum $50 charge plus postage (you will be billed directly by the caretaker who packages and mails it).  Check-out is 10 am.  Upon check-out, please close and lock all windows and doors, turn off all heaters and lights, place kitchen garbage into the dumpster in the parking lot, and run the dishwasher with the last of your dishes.  If you notice anything that needs our attention before the next guests arrive, or if you just have some ideas for improvements or supplies, please let me know.  We strive to keep the Chalet as perfect as possible.

For entertainment at the chalet, we have cable as well as firesticks with all the premium DirecTv channels, Amazon Prime, NFL Sunday Ticket, Disney+, AppleTV, HBOmax, ESPN+, Hulu, and Netflix.  Please do not make any purchases on the firesticks.  If there is a channel that has not been downloaded or registered on the firestick that you want to watch, you can call me with the log in code and I can do it remotely for you.  There is a Wii with over 100 games, an XBox X with ultimate game pass, and a cocktail arcade table with 500 games such as PacMan, etc. There is also a karaoke machine, poker table and chips, cards, loads of board games, children’s toys, and ping pong paddles that you can use for the table at the rec center. In the winter there are sleds and 2 pairs of adult snowshoes.

Please note that we are located in the snowy mountains (the reason you are coming here!).  4-wheel drive vehicles and chains are highly recommended and sometimes required to get around in these parts. There are services that will sell and install chains onsite if you don't bring them (see below). Ordering from Amazon for your specific tire size is much cheaper. Please pay attention to the weather forecast and DOT road conditions. Check real-time road conditions here.

PLANNING: Buy your lift tickets at Mammoth Mountain's websitePlan your other activities. VisitMammoth.com is a great resource for everything Mammoth Lakes.

Concierge service: our caretaker Grace will be more than happy to help.  Whether it's picking up groceries mid-stay, ski gear or other errands, she’s here to help and give you more time to relax and enjoy your vacation.  You pay her directly at $60/hr and can text her at 805-748-1494 with your requests.

Midstay light clean and towel change service is available for $100 (paid directly to the housekeepers). Text or email me at least 3 days ahead to arrange.

Ski Rentals: Black Tie Skis offers the convenience of in-chalet fitting and delivered ski and snowboard rentals. And as our guest, you will receive 20% off! To receive your discount, book your ski and snowboard rentals more than 48 hours in advance. (Blackout dates and restrictions apply.) Make your reservation here.  Watch a video about their service here If you call to book, tell them you are an 1849 Mountain Rentals guest to receive the discount.  You can also rent skis through Mammoth Mountain and have them delivered to a storage locker at Canyon Lodge where you can keep the equipment during your stay. You can even swap between skis and snowboards. Book here.

Grocery Delivery: If you’d like to avoid having to spend the start of your vacation at the grocery store, we are here to help! Just place your online order at Vons for the morning of your arrival, send us your confirmation, and we’ll pick it up and put it away in the chalet in time for check-in.  We ask that you notify us at least 48 hours in advance so that we can schedule staff for your pick up.  There is a $40 charge for this service.

Lockers: We have two seasonal lockers for your use at the Canyon Lodge.  A map to find them in the Lodge is below.  They are in a prime location for quick access to the slopes once you've got your gear.

For Baby Supply Rentals or Special Occasion Celebration Prep & decorating in the chalet, contact Mary Beth at Delivering Mammoth and Mammoth Baby here.

Restaurants: There are loads of great restaurants in Mammoth.  During busy times the waits can get long.  Some require reservations.  My favorite restaurant is Skadi. It is very small and the chef and wait staff take exceptional pride in their food.  You must text them to make a reservation well in advance. Here are some reviews for other popular spots.

BBQ: There are two communal BBQ’s available behind the pool house/rec center. They may not be available once there is significant snow on the ground. One BBQ is gas and one is charcoal. Charcoal needs to be provided by you however gas is provided by the community. BBQ cooking tools are located in the cabinet over the microwave.

Some Rules: The chalet non-smoking! If during your stay anyone smokes any substance inside the unit, a $300 cleaning fee plus reimbursement for any damages will be charged to your credit card. Pre-approved adult dogs may be permitted with an additional pet fee.  Please be certain to contact me before arriving with a pet including a service animal. Per the HOA policy, not doing so may result in a penalty of $1000 and eviction with no refund.  As a reminder, per fire code and our City Rental License, the Gondola Chalet’s legal occupancy limit is 12 guests.  This includes all ages and day visitors.  Municipal code and association quiet hours are 10 pm to 8 am.  Guests may be asked by 1849 association representatives, local authorities, or the owners to immediately vacate rental premises, without refunds or compensation, in the event of unnecessary and loud noise (nuisance or disturbance), breaking of association rules, or other illegal activities.  In summary, please be considerate of guests staying in other units, and treat our home as if it was your home. Thank you!

Transportation: From the Chalet it is a short walk to the free village gondola down to the Village at Mammoth (operates during Mammoth Mountain resort hours). This offers endless opportunities for dining, drinks, and relaxation. Get a drink from Side Door Wine Bar & Cafe or a tasty dinner from Campo. Then simply hop on the free bus back up to the chalet if its after hours for the gondola. At the end of the driveway is the bus stop for the free public transportation that runs throughout Mammoth Lakes.  The bus and trolley operate year-round with less frequency during spring and fall. The bus lines that serve 1849 are the Blue Line and the Night Trolley. The Village at Mammoth is the hub for making transfers to other lines so during the winter you may also take the complimentary Village Gondola to the connecting bus service you need.  Download the app for real-time departures and maps: apple or google play. Other transportation Services such as flights, taxis and rental cars can be found here and here.

HOT TUB / SAUNA / REC ROOM / POOL: The Jacuzzis, Pool and rec room are open for guest use from 10am-10pm. The rec room includes a
ping pong table, sauna, fireplace, TV, arcade games, and foosball. No glass is permitted around the hot tubs or pool. Uce code "135" to enter the gate.

The address for the Gondola Chalet is 826 Lakeview Blvd, Mammoth Lakes. Turn right into the driveway just before the main building as shown in the picture. There is a bus stop sign on the left-hand side of the road right there. The driveway sneaks up on you so the sign is a good marker. Continue up the driveway to building F. We are the middle entrance, upstairs. We have 3 parking spots but they are not designated so just park in the closest spots. There are parking passes in the kitchen.

The door code will be texted to you. Enter it, hit the enter button, and give it 15 seconds to unlock. If you have any trouble you can call me at this number or by ringing the doorbell.
